Bond Financing

EIERA issues bonds to public and private borrowers to finance environmental and energy projects in Missouri.

EIERA issues Private Activity Bonds to finance projects qualifying under federal tax law as tax-exempt, such as:

  • Drinking water and wastewater
  • Anaerobic digesters for manure or food waste
  • Landfills, transfer stations, Materials Recovery Facilities and landfill biogas recovery
  • Electric and gas facilities, energy-related environmental remediation and carbon capture, utilization, and storage

EIERA issues bonds for other types of projects which are not qualified under federal law for private activity bonds, but may be eligible for state tax-exemption, such as:

  • Industrial wastewater pretreatment
  • Energy conservation
  • Energy efficiency
  • Development of energy resources
  • Renewable energy systems (wind, solar, biomass, etc.)
