Mary Fontana Nichols (Democrat)
Mary served as State Representative, D72, from 2011–2019 representing portions of Maryland Heights, Bridgeton, St. Ann, Breckenridge Hills, Overland, and Unincorporated St. Louis County. She served on the following Committees: Joint Committee on Solid Waste Management District Operations, Ranking Member-Financial Institutions/Banking/Taxation, Joint Committee on Real Property Tax Increment Allocation Redevelopment, Appropriations Public Safety and Corrections, Professional Registration and Licensing, Tourism and Natural Resources, and Interim Committee on Disaster Recovery. Prior to that, Mary was City Councilwoman for the City of Maryland Heights, establishing citywide free (for residents) trash and recycling pick up. Mary was appointed to be the first Maryland Heights Democratic Committeewoman in in 1986. Presently, she is a member of the St. Louis Chapter of the National Women’s Political Caucus RECRUIT – TRAIN –ELECT – women to political office. She was Secretary for St. Louis Regional Caucus from 2015-2018 to cultivate and advance bipartisan support for policies and initiatives that will enhance the St. Louis Region and President for Women Legislators of Missouri Bipartisan group of past and present Legislators. Before that, Mary was the Volunteer Coordinator for the Incorporation of Maryland Heights.
